There are a number of pay and display car parks around the theatre as well as on-street parking. Blue badge holders should head for Albion Place, the closest car park to the main entrance with ample spaces for Blue Badge holders.

For a speedier post-show exit, you can now obtain a parking ticket for St John's Multi-Storey from our Box Office or theatre bars. Simply show your theatre ticket and purchase a barrier-ready exit ticket for £1. For evening performances, exit tickets must be purchased by the interval as our Box Office and theatre bars are closed post-show.

By car from the motorway
From the North: Leave the motorway at J16 and turn onto the A45, signposted Northampton West. At the roundabout take the second exit to continue on the A45 and follow signs for Northampton. Follow the signs for Northampton Town Centre going past Northampton Saints Rugby ground on your right hand side. You will get to a junction (Northampton train station will be on your left), turn right at these traffic lights, move into the left hand lane and take the second exit when you come to the roundabout. At the second set of traffic lights you will turn left, follow the road and signs for St John's Car Park.
From the South: Leave the M1 at J15. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A45. Continue forward on the A45 (signposted Wellingborough, Kettering) following signs for the County Cricket Ground. Branch left at the Barnes Meadow Interchange, signposted for Bedford/Abington and Town Centre (just before the flyover). At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A428 Bedford Road (signposted Town Centre). Remain on this road (going past Becket's Park on the left) and you will reach a main junction. At these lights continue forward onto Derngate. The second left turning off Derngate will take you to Albion Place, the third will bring you onto Guildhall Road towards the St John's car parks.

By Train
Northampton train station is approximately a 15 minute walk from the theatre and is served by a busy taxi rank. London Midland operates regular services with both London and Birmingham approximately an hour's journey away. By bus
Northampton's new bus interchange, North Gate Bus Station, is approximately 10 minutes walk away.There are bus stops throughout the Town Centre within a 5-minute walk. For information about bus timetables and routes, please contact Traveline 0870 6082608 or online here.

Access

We are committed to enabling as many people as possible to enjoy performances at Royal & Derngate.

Royal & Derngate has level access into the building and each auditoria, with a number of wheelchair spaces in each and lift access to each floor (excluding upper-circle). We offer sign language interpreted, audio described and captioned performances for all Made In Northampton productions and a host of touring shows. The Sennheiser Infra-red Enhanced Hearing System is available from the Box Office. To ensure that you purchase tickets in seats with optimum coverage, please check with Box Office at time of booking.

Before every audio described evening performance in our Made In Northampton season, we will be holding a half-hour touch tour at 5.30pm to introduce our visually impaired audience members to the set and costumes. Spaces on these tours are limited, so please ring our Box Office to book your place.

Guide and hearing dogs are welcome and water can be provided. If you wish to take your dog into the auditorium, please let Box Office know when booking so that suitable seats can be allocated for you. 

There are a number of disabled badge holders' parking spaces to the front of Royal & Derngate in Albion Place surface car park, and disabled badge holders can park free along Derngate in permitted spaces.
