I am in London performing with one of the loveliest and most talented companies – the same group I’ve been performing with for three years each summer and here we are again! This time it’s a compilation of all my favourite scenes from our West End productions of Barmy Britain and it’s one hell of a challenging show, but tremendous fun to be doing it with Emma Swan and Jack Ballard. Last week I somehow managed to perform in three different productions – Georgians & Victorians in Skipton, Barmy Britain at the Apollo and Terrible Thames on the river. A highlight for Barmy is that each performance we bring a child onto the stage to torment, and so far they have been fantastic – so spirited and funny – including a boy who couldn’t walk but was determined to be the one I picked today – my new hero. On my way home tonight I bumped into John Lithgow who I adored in GIANT, who was happy to chat on a quiet night in London. I feel I’ve had more than my fair share of theatrical magic this past fortnight.
