One of the biggest productions staged by the company, with a cast of nineteen actors. The production was directed by Jonathan Church and featured Carolyn Backhouse and Mary Wimbush.
The play toured the country before launching Jonathan Church’s tenure at Salisbury Playhouse.
"This is a superb production: an evening of gripping, absorbing drama told simply, starkly and powerfully. It is refreshing to encounter a production where the play itself is allowed to speak for itself. Spellbinding!"
"This CRUCIBLE blazes like a beacon of excellence. Intelligent interpretation combines with towering performances with the force of raw emotion. A stunning production."
"This production is so palpably good that it brought the theatre to silence on many occasions. The Birmingham Stage Company pull out all the stops to give us the power and fury the play demands."
"I have seen many versions of this modern classic but this one I am tempted to call definitive. As it ended, the first night audience sat in silence for a few seconds before breaking into applause which went on long after the cast left the stage"
"Seeing this production of THE CRUCIBLE is an experience not easily forgotten. The atmosphere is nothing short of electric."
